About SEEDSIn 2003, Bishop Emeritus Stephen Blaire had a dream to provide underserved students in the Diocese of Stockton an opportunity for a Catholic education. To realize his dream, Bishop Blaire invited the Young Men's Institute (YMI) to help establish an independent, nonprofit organization to fund need-based scholarships, that would make Catholic schools a possibility for many rather than a privilege for a few. Under the leadership of the Young Men's Institute, SEEDS was established to plant Catholic education in the lives of students across the diocese.
Since 2004, SEEDS has allocated over $3.8 million in scholarships, serving over 4100 students, over 2800 families. Over the years, SEEDS has grown and has been instrumental in Growing Faith through Student Scholarships.
